Radio Toxic is a media production company based in Vancouver British Columbia. Founded in 2011, Radio Toxic is a group of professional media specialists devoted to the proper promotion and presentation of the art of electronic music, and making this accessible to the greatest possible audience. Electronic music is distributed and accessed primarily through internet mediums, which often strip the genre of the personable and intimate broadcaster-audience relationship that conventional radio is known for. Radio Toxic bridges the gap between the internet and radio, breathing life back into the dying medium of radio, by carefully transferring its voice into a healthy and growing body: internet and mobile device broadcasting.
Our Formula
As far as scheduled programming is concerned, Radio Toxic is structured similar to conventional radio show broadcasts: we have daily/weekly programming, with an on-air voice announcing track titles and minor promo, but we differ greatly in the substance and presentation of our programming. Our station is completely independent, freeing us from commercially-dictated playlists, and letting us play popular music that isn’t necessarily ‘pop’ music–this is essential for a genre that is arguably the most popular on earth, but still lacks proper top 100 representation.
Our song selection is premium, far surpassing the standard norms for radio broadcasting, so it’s only reasonable that our in-site audio player dwarfs the transmission quality of regular radio signals. Our player, which broadcasts the audio signal, is the first of its kind: the custom-made player encodes audio signal in real-time, maximizing the quality of the signal without requiring the bandwidth burden that would typically cause lagging with standard players. This state-of-the-art player is the bloodline of the site, and can be accessed free on any computer or mobile phone. The player can run through a user’s favourite media-playing program (such as iTunes), and to compensate for the poor processing power of some mobile phones, our player has a built in quality option, allowing you to downgrade the sample rate in order to run it properly on nearly any modern mobile phone.
We spared no expense with the player so we could ensure that the quality audio programming of Radio Toxic can be accessed on any operating system, at any time. Whereas radio access is limited to FM receivers, and internet stations at least requires wi-fi, our player transmits through phones, computers, mp3 players, and virtually any other piece of hardware that has an aux input (ie: iPod ports, car stereos, PA systems).

Our main objective–to maximize the quality and desirability of our product, and to ensure this product is accessible to the greatest range of demographics–is something we haven’t approached half-heartedly. Our website, our player, our promotional material, and our music programming are all world class, and deciding to fully represent all elements of the genre forced us to create a holistic platform that is accessed for many different reason, by many different people. The casual listeners tunes into Toxic on-the-go on their mobile device; a fan follows our blogs and message boards for all forms of music updates; the more intensive fan scours our media sections for exclusive releases and downloads from our big name DJ’s; and nearly anyone can appreciate the live footage of the massive live DJ sets hosted in-house at Toxic Studios.
Our website is truly a holistic representation of the fastest growing and most talked about music genre on earth, and our product is accessible to anyone in virtually any setting. Don’t pay the outlandish rates that standard radio companies charge: conventional radio is dying, and trying to adapt to the internet-based integration that any successful business model standardized years ago.
We offer select companies ad space on our website radiotoxic.com. Our graphic and web designers will work with your company to tastefully and effectively present your brand or image or our site. Although our website is centralized at radiotoxic.com, our internet presence is very substantial and influential; our Facebook page has nearly 1,500 likes, and we have over 12,000 followers on twitter, ensuring maximum internet exposure at minimum cost.
We’ve only just begun, so our rates are still very low, but the public’s reception to our services and our products have far surpassed what we believed were once ambitious projections. Our product is well-timed, well-presented, and well-maintained, and our team is young, passionate, and fully capable of promoting our premium product as effectively as it deserves.
